In accordance with the university’s technology goals, An-Najah held its first ever computerized exam. The exam for the English 100 course was taken by 1335 students from different faculties.

The E- learning Center worked with the Language Center to computerize the exam and divide the students into groups. Each group answered different questions, but they were tested on the same knowledge and skills. Technicians from the E-Learning Center provided technical support during the exams. The first session of 8 classes took place on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013.

Dr. Sa’eda Affoneh, Director of the E- Learning Center, discussed the importance of this decision by the University President. Firstly, reducing paper usage will help preserve the environment. In addition, computerizing the exam reduces the effort required for staff to correct exams. The exams are corrected automatically, and students receive their marks immediately after they complete the exam. In a recent study, a British researcher predicted that by the year 2023 paper and pencil tests will become history.
